METHOD # 2 - For POWER USERS
STEP #1: Find the old database
Install the latest version of Automotive Wolf
on the new computer using the
installation file. It can be downloaded from our
website from link:
http://www.lonewolf-software.com/autowolf/AWsetup.exe
Transferring the database is quite simple since all the
data is contained in one file named AWdb440.mdb
However, you may have more than one AWdb440.mdb data
file on your SOURCE computer, so you need to transfer
the correct one.
If you are transferring from an older version of
Autotmotive Wolf (before v4.49.98) you should find the
AWdb440.mdb database file in the following location.
C:\Program Files\Automotive
Wolf\Data\AWdb440.mdb
(check the file date and see if it was updated recently
from the last time it was accessed)
The current version v4.504 and later stores the
database AWdb440.mdb in the following location depending
on your Operating System:
XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Application Data\Lone
Wolf Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
Vista32:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Lone Wolf
Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
Vista64:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Lone Wolf
Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
Windows7:
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Lone Wolf
Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
Windows
8 :
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Lone Wolf
Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
Windows 10 :
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Lone Wolf
Software\Automotive Wolf\AWdb440.mdb
STEP #2: Move the old database to the new
computer
To Transfer the database to a different
computer:
1) COPY and PASTE the AWdb440.mdb database
file using Windows Explorer from the
SOURCE
computer into the location specified above for the
Operating System you are using on the
DESTINATION
computer.
NOTE: Automotive Wolf does not store images linked in
the database to reduce database size.
If you have maintenance/repair records that link to
images/invoices etc you will also need to transfer the
images being linked to in Automotive Wolf to the
computer you are transferring the software to.
Start Automotive Wolf on the new computer. If you see
your old data then you are finished and you may exit
this page!
STEP #3: Move the old database and register it
in a new folder location:
If Step #2 above did not work or if you prefer to
have the Automotive Wolf database in a different location
on the Destination computer, please continue with the
instructions below.
To move the database to a different folder location and
register it there:
1) Create a new folder on your destination
computer using Windows Explorer. You can name it whatever
you like but we recommend using "Automotive Wolf
Database".
2) Copy and Paste the AWdb440.mdb database file from
the source location (see above) on the old computer to the new folder location
on the DESTINATION computer (new computer).
3) Start Automotive Wolf on the new computer and
select:
File->Change Database Location
Select the new folder you created above where you moved
the old AWdb440.mdb database file to
Click OK to accept the change.
Close Automotive Wolf .
4) Start Automotive Wolf on the new computer. If you
see your old data then you are finished and you may exit
this page!
STEP #4: Register the old database on the new
computer :
